Author Ben Gadd,
64, has lived in or near the Rockies all his
life. Educated as a geologist, he has pursued a
career in natural history. After 30 years as an
interpretive guide and lecturer in Jasper
National Park, he and his wife Cia have moved to
Canmore, Alberta, within easy reach of Banff
National Park, Lake Louise, Calgary and
Kananaskis Country. The author of Handbook of
the Canadian Rockies and eight other books,
Ben is a recognized authority on the region. He
designs nature trails, produces interpretive
signage and advises protected-area managers.
When not otherwise occupied, Ben hikes, climbs
and cross-country skis in the mountains he loves
best.
